San Francisco, CA - After reviewing over 10,000 albums
from 85 countries, the Just Plain Folks Music Organization officially
announced the nominees for their annual music awards. Sam Rogers’
solo debut CD “One Mouth Band” garnered a nomination in the
Best Vocal Jazz Album category. This marks the first time a live, solo,
A Cappella album has ever been nominated for any international music award.
In this live, “100% organic human sound” recording, Sam Rogers
uses only his mouth and a microphone to make all the sounds of a band.
In addition to these vocal acrobatics, his musicianship and jazz-leaning
ear have granted him international opportunities and respect. At the 2003
Vokal Total International Music Festival in Graz, Austria, Rogers’s
performances inspired five-time Grammy award-winner Ward Swingle to exclaim,
“It is simply stunning what Sam can accomplish!” Rogers became
the first solo A Cappella act to compete against vocal groups, winning
two Swingle awards in the process.
The 2004 Just Plain Folks Music Awards Show will take place
on Sunday, November 7th at the historic Avalon in Hollywood, California.
As a nominee, Sam Rogers will have the chance to perform on stage, amidst
the presentation of 120 genre-specific awards for Best Album, Best Song,
